Camel on the Road 1972 (1993)
|
The CD gives no indication of where or exactly when this was recorded, but
1972 was a year before their first album was released.
I highly recommend this CD to all fans of the "early years". Of the three live versions of "Lady Fantasy", the one here is easily my favorite. And it's the only place you'll find a live recording of "Six Ate" (from Camel) and "White Rider" (part of "Nimrodel" from Mirage). "God of Light Revisited" is almost worth the price of the CD by itself; a killer 14 minute Pete Bardens song not found on any Camel studio album and showing off some inventive synth work. According to Marshall Wood: The song "God of Light Revisited" is a performance of a song called "Homage to the God of Light" that first appeared on Bardens' solo album The Answer. The song also appeared on the Greasy Truckers: Live at Dingwall's Dance Hall album from 1973, under the title "Lord of Light Revisited." This album was a compilation of live songs from various artists. The other bands on this LP were Gong, Henry Cow, and the Global Village Trucking Co. |
