The Single Factor (1982)

This album brings another major change in the Camel lineup. Andy Latimer is now the only original member left (according to the liner notes, "Andy Ward does not appear on this album following a serious injury to his hand"), although Peter Bardens does make a guest appearance at the keyboards for "Sasquatch". None of the personnel from the previous album (Nude) are here, except for Susan Hoover who wrote most of the lyrics, and Duncan Mackay who plays synthesizer on one song ("Selva").

I like this album. "Sasquatch" is a great instrumental piece harkening back to the early days (this is helped, I'm sure, by Peter Bardens' participation). There is some good driving rock and roll, some very pretty slower songs ("Heroes" is a particular standout), and really nothing that I would call boring. Definitely better than the previous two albums.
