Dust and Dreams (1991)

Finally, after eight years, Camel (which by now is really Andrew Latimer) goes back into the studio. This is another concept album (the fourth, if anyone wants to keep track), this time inspired by Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath. Echos of The Snow Goose can be heard here, although four of the 16 songs have vocals (two by Susan Hoover, two by Andrew himself).

I must admit to being personally a little disappointed by this one, although I'll quickly add that many Camel fans consider this some of their best work. It has more in common with Nude than with Stationary Traveller, and I really wish there was more of Andy's guitar and flute. Still, it's good to have Camel back, and I don't hesitate to recommend this to any fan.
